Week 3 Post 1
1. Give examples of oral and written communication used in your work placement. Did you draft your own communications? Are you using 'clean formatting'? Are you using Outlook. If so, what features are you using?
I and my supervisor mainly communicated verbally, but their important issues must be conveyed with written communication, printed and kept in the file. I did not use Outlook, because Time Matter provided us with schedule table.
2. Provide an example of a problem you encountered and describe how you solved it.
I have not encountered any problem.
3. Are you using a To-Do List/notebook to prioritize your work to meet deadlines.
My supervisor organized my work, so I didn't need to use a To-Do List.
4. What is one of your weaknesses? How did you overcome this in your work placement?
My weakness is that I have difficulty in communication in English. I made an effort to explain my questions and they tried to understand them as well, so we could communicate well.
5. Provide recommendations for refinements to the curriculum (i.e. are there specific elements we should spend more time on to better prepare you for the work place). What is right about the curriculum? What needs to be improved upon? Which courses did you prefer - explain why. Which courses did you not prefer - explain why.
I would like to recommend to reduce the amount of use of MS Office Suite and to increase the time for law courses. My favourite course was Corporate Law because Erin provided us with correct samples that she had used in reality, so I could easily understand what she wanted. Transcription was the worst course in my life because Pete did not show what was the correct one, so I mistook over and over, for example, how to use comma.
6. How will you continue to learn and develop professionally?
I will continue to learn and develop professionally through getting a job. If I get a job and obtain the Permanent Residency, I want to go to school for more studying.
